Smith River is amazing!

September 24, 2009

We have been coming here to Jedediah State Park for years and we love the Smith River. Huge redwoods and great water. Although, this year much more algae than normal. You must visit this park as you will not be sorry.

Dinosaurs on highway 101

September 24, 2009

Did you know there were dinosaurs on highway 101 as you head from Cali into Oregon? Here is some proof

Inside the Puck

September 24, 2009

Hard to take inside picture of the Puck but here is one of the bed made up to sleep. This is looking to the rear of the Puck. Last night I reworked the bed and slept much better. I had two heavy sleeping bags zipped together for most this trip and it was just too poooofy. Took up too much space and just did not feel right. So I now have one bag opened all the way on bottom and blankets for covering us. Worked better.

More relaxing around the fire

September 23, 2009

Been having a nice rip ror’n fire almost every night. We have been mostly chilling one day and then the next we go out and play and shop. Today we are heading to Florence Oregon. This will be the farthest north along the coast we have went. Going to shop again. Oh, and eat! The puck has been nice but sleeping has not been the best. Been too hot up here and unseasonably warm for this area. Plus the Puck is not big inside so the wife and I are figgiting. Maybe tonight we will swap sides and see if that helps. Either way, it is a fun little camper and we keep having people stop at camp asking us about our little Puck.

Ashland Oregon & Burl wood

September 21, 2009

In Ashland for the day shopping. On our way over from Jedediah we stopped at a real cool Burl wood museum and gallery on highway 199 in Kerbyville Oregon. $250 later we left with a jewelry box for my wife. Did I ever mention my wife likes to shop .

The Puck is comfy

September 20, 2009

We have now slept in the Puck 3 nights and she is pretty comfy. So far camping has consisted of sitting at the beach and reading, swimming, eating, and plenty of drinking. We don’t have good Internet access here so not much blogging can be done. I am finding WordPress for iPhone does not keep the order of my posts correct so sorry posts are all over. Maybe I can fix that when I get home.

Beer, Peanuts, & Pucks

September 18, 2009

Starting to get in the vacation groove now. Sat at the Jed beach on the river for 3 hours and now back at camp drinking beer and munching on shelled peanuts. Heaven!!

Arrived at Jedediah State Park

September 18, 2009

Puck hitched up and ready!

September 16, 2009

Our 1st Blog Post!

September 16, 2009

Welcome to my vwHippie blog. This blog will be about my VW obsession. This 1st post is regarding my maiden voyage in our 1970/71 Eriba Puck from Germany. The Puck is a cool little German made camper that many VW nuts like to pull behind their old antique cars like Bugs, Buses, and Things, etc… Since my 1960 VW Single Cab is on jack stands being worked on, she gets to take her maiden voyage behind a 2000 Nissan Xterra. We are about to take our first camping trip in it and can’t wait! Own this thing for 3 years or so and we have never used it. I have been slowly working on it and now she is ready for some trips. So, wish is some luck and restful nights. We will be camping for 10 nights in the redwood forests of northern California. Check back as I will be posting updates from my trusty little iPhone during our trip. Until next time, happy VeeeDubbIn. 8-).
